Blessing of the animals

The Liberal Catholic Church got together with New Way Community Chapel (which meets in the St Alban’s church hall downstairs)  to hold a Blessing of the Animals service at 5pm on Sunday 2 October.   

A gathering of pets – mostly dogs, with Bill and Ben, a pair of finches, representing the birds of the air – and their owners enjoyed a service of hymns, choruses and prayers followed by the blessing of each pet and its owner.  Fr Brian welcomed visitors on behalf of the LCC and gave the final Benediction.  The pets were very well behaved, although they didn’t pay much attention to the sermon given by Pastor David of New Way, even though their owners enjoyed David’s wise words.  They did however enjoy the “show bags” provided free by the Ashgrove Pet Cafe!!

The service was followed by fellowship hosted by Pastor David and the people of New Way with contributions from the Liberal Catholics present.  The event was voted a success by all, so watch this space next year!!
