HOLD YOUR WEDDING SERVICE AT ST ALBAN’S !!

Although our church is quite small – we can cater for up to 60 – we are ideally located on Wickham Terrace in Spring Hill.  We are just across the road from the Roma Street Parklands where we can conduct outdoor weddings for larger numbers.  The Parklands also provide a wonderful setting for your wedding photographs.  And, of course, there are a variety of hotels in the area suitable for your reception and accommodation needs.  If your guests want to leave their cars at home, we are close to both Roma Street station and Transit Centre, and Central Station.  So you have everything you need in close proximity.

The Liberal Catholic Church, while an independent organisation, is part of the worldwide catholic tradition.  Therefore, for those for whom it is important, we maintain the Apostolic Succession and our clergy are validly ordained.  Furthermore, we are happy to remarry divorced persons, and to marry those who have no church affiliation but would like a church wedding, provided they are sincere in their intentions.

Our ceremony allows a degree of flexibility including your choice of music and readings.  We can also include Candle Lighting and other additional touches if you so require.  And. of course, our celebrants can attend to all the paperwork required by the registrar.

So why not get in touch with one of our clergy and ask for more information?  They are always happy to meet with you and discuss your needs.

Been married before? Then check this out!

The LCC doesn’t refuse to re-marry those who have been married before and divorced.  It’s a fact of life that marriages sometimes fail for a variety of reasons.  You may have made a marriage commitment before God and before friends in full and total sincerity.  It was probably a joyous day when you were younger - even inexperienced - and you would have entered marriage full of hope and the expectation of spending life together.

But things can go wrong.  Circumstances arise that we could not possibly have foreseen.  Personalities can change for many reasons.  These can include illness, accident or just growing up in different directions.

For whatever reason, relationships change, sometimes to a point where a couple cannot continue together anymore.  The situation becomes destructive for both parents and children.  The LCC cannot believe that a loving God doesn’t understand this, yet many churches insist that divorce is wrong no matter what.  At a point in someone’s life where they need all the support they can get, it seems the church simply abandons them.  You can even murder your grandmother and obtain forgiveness, yet make a mistake in a marriage decision and you’re never forgiven!

While the LCC believes that divorce should be the last option, it will remarry those who want to sincerely try again and wish to be married by a priest in a church, garden or home.  Couples often believe that there’s an important spiritual aspect to marriage and family life.  Some may wish to continue to worship regularly yet find themselves denied the sacraments.

If you find that some of these comments are relevant to your situation, please don’t hesitate to give one of our clergy a call or send us an email.  We guarantee you will get an understanding response – and who knows, we may be able to help you get started again!
